"Hello, I'm Dokgeo-norin, which means someone who has fun living alone.".
A Star's Story, "My Day" (Episodes 1-5) (Final Episode 5) My Day, Full of Starlight
"Tonight, try to find a star that shines exceptionally bright. Perhaps... it's your story."
The long, long day came to an end, and it was finally time to go home. I dragged my tired body onto the 'Orion Express Train' again. It was the same crowded train as in the morning, but strangely, the heat and gravity of the other stars no longer felt so overwhelming. The faint but warm light of senior Betelgeuse, the childish but human-like quarrel of the Sun and Moon, Longtail's free and dazzling tail... all the events of the day were creating a small light within me.
Returning to my spot, I quietly looked down. In the pitch-black darkness, I could see the blue planet Earth. And there, were countless small beings who must have had a day as tiring as mine. I wondered what they were doing right now.
Suddenly, I remembered the 'Earth Observation Performance Report' I had to submit to Manager Sirius. Without hesitation, I changed the title of the report.
<A Study on Beings Who Seem Insignificant, but Are Full of Significance>
Then I began to write. Instead of rigid numbers like 'how many people observed it', I wrote about what I saw. The weary shoulders of an office worker leaning against a window late at night, soothing the day's worries while looking at my light. The earnest eyes of a student on a rooftop, whispering hopes for tomorrow to me with hands clasped. The sparkling moments of lovers promising eternity while holding hands and looking up at the night sky.
I may be just one of the countless stars in the night sky, and my light may be very faint. But I realized that this small light of mine could be a guide, a comfort, and a dream to someone. If so, my existence is by no means 'insignificant'.
It was then. From Earth below, a child was looking out a window, waving at me. My reflection was captured perfectly in the child's clear eyes. In that moment, I realized. The meaning of my existence that I had been searching for so desperately. I wasn't shining to be seen by someone. It was when I existed simply as myself, and when I met someone who recognized that light, that I could truly shine most brilliantly.
With all my might, I gave a 'twinkle' towards the child with the warmest and most affectionate light. As if to say, "You worked so hard today. You are not alone." Tonight, my day comes to a close like this. What kind of things await me tomorrow? I'm not afraid. I am now ready to shine in my own way, at my own pace, in my own place. Because I am a significant, a very special star.
My thoughts!
You, too, are a unique star to someone. Your very existence can be a light that brightens the darkness and a milestone that guides the way for someone. So please don't think of yourself as an 'insignificant person'. You are already shining brightly enough. Tonight, look up at the sky. And please accept the greeting from a small star twinkling just for you. "You worked so very hard, shining, today."
